H.R.H. Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn grants audience to Scholarship Recipients, Academic Year 2023
19 August 2023: At Meeting room, 1st floor, Royal Library Building, Wang Srapathum , Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn graciously granted a royal audience to Prof. Dr. Pairash Thajchayapong, the Secretary General of the Information Technology Foundation under the Initiative of Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn (PSIT), members of PSIT executive committee, Secretary General of the Office of Civil Service Commission (OCSC), and this year’s recipients of the HRH-Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD) Scholarship, HRH-Xi’an Jaio Tong (XJTU) Scholarship, HRH-University College Dublin (UCD) Scholarship, HRH-Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology (Skoltech) Scholarship, and the Royal Thai Government Scholarship under OCSC-University of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (UCAS) collaboration, before departing to study.
From 2011 until present, many leading universities abroad have presented scholarships to Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn to be given to suitable and qualified individuals to study in the master’s and/or doctoral level at their respective university. To select suitable persons to be scholarship recipients, PSIT set up a scholarship selection committee which comprises technical experts in various fields as well as representative from relevant organization. The Committee reviews applicants through application documents and interview and pre-liminary selects the qualified candidates for royal endorsement and/or decision.
In the academic year 2023 (2023), there are ten (10) scholarship recipients as follows:
(1) HRH-SUTD (Ph.D. level), 3 persons
(2) HRH-XJTU (Master’s degree level), 2 persons
(3) HRH-UCD (Master’s degree level), 2 persons
(4) HRH-Skoltech (Master’s degree level), 3 persons
In addition, Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn has initiated Thailand’s cooperation in science and technology with the People’s Republic of China. One of the collaborations that was established under such umbrella is the academic cooperation agreement between the Office of the Civil Service Commission and the university of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (UCAS) where UCAS agreed to partially supported up to ten (10) Ph.D. scholarships per year and the Thai government, through OCSC, supported the rest of expenses for the scholarship. In the academic year 2023, there are 2 scholarship recipients for the OCSC-UCAS scholarship.
Altogether, there are a total of twelve (12) scholarship recipients receiving an audience with and paying their respects to Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, and receiving a royal blessing before departing to study abroad.
