The Lindau Nobel Laureate Meetings provide a globally recognized forum for exchange between Nobel Laureates and young scientists. They inspire scientific generations and build sustainable networks of young scientists around the world. The first meeting was held in Lindau, Federal Republic of Germany in 1951.
The Meetings aim to achieve three goals in line with the motto (1) educating, (2) inspiring and (3) connecting. The Council for the Lindau Nobel Laureate Meetings, in cooperation with the Foundation Lindau Nobel Laureate Meetings, organizes the annual meetings in late June or early July every year, rotating among the disciplines of physics, chemistry, and physiology or medicine. The meetings last for six days, with an opening ceremony in Lindau on the first day and a closing ceremony on Mainau island on the last day. The economics discipline has been held every two years, since 2004.
