1). Science and technology and information technology for education and development of the underprivileged
Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn Princess holds a belief that the progress of science and technology depends heavily on the quality of people. Therefore, the Foundation has carried out the science and technology project which covers research, human resource development in science and technology, and development of education and quality of life.

• Research: Create cooperation with scientific agencies and leading research institutes in the world so that Thai scientists have the opportunity to exchange knowledge and participate in world-class research such as polar science research, Thai-CERN relations, Thai Ju-No cooperation, etc.
• Science and Technology Human Resource Development: Support Thai students, teachers, and scientists to increase their knowledge and experience, as well as continue their studies in leading research institutes or educational institutions in various countries, such as physics students and teachers participating in the Summer Student Program at CERN, DESY and GSI, education scholarships for students to study in the master’s and doctoral program at leading educational institutions abroad, etc.
• Development of Education and Quality of Life: Create educational opportunities for youth, both in Thailand and abroad, such as ICT for lifelong learning for communities using the installation of solar cell systems at the Institute of Technology, Kampong Speu, Kingdom of Cambodia and enhancing quality of science education using science experiments for Lak 67 schools in Lao PDR, etc.

     2)  ICT for the underprivileged:  Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn cares and puts her heart into the disabled (including children with physical and intellectual disabilities), sick children in hospitals, prisoners, and youths in correctional institutions.  She uses science and technology and ICT as important tools to improve the quality of life of these groups.

• ICT for Education and Development of the Underprivileged: Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn  has a keen interest in using information technology to improve the quality of life and increase educational opportunities for the people. She has promoted the use of ICT in education for rural students and in the development of the underprivileged, the disabled, sick children in hospitals, prisoners, and youths in correctional institutions.
• ICT for Education: Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn hold a belief that education is the most important factor that will enable the country to develop sustainably.  In this respect, she emphasizes children and youth of all groups. Therefore, the Foundation has carried out the information technology project to support children’s education. and various youth groups, including those in rural schools, private Islamic schools, and novices in Phra Prapariyattham School.

Her Royal Highness provides guidelines for project operations as follows:

• To emphasize quality and effectiveness rather than quantity
• Paying attention and following through for results rather than only giving materials or equipment
• Place emphasis on research and new innovations to make the development suitable for Thailand and local conditions
• Place emphasis on a proper balance in many dimensions, rather than bringing in rapid growth that may cause other undesirable side effects to the community
• Transfer the successful parts to responsible government agencies, or those that are directly involved in that matter in order to take over and use the Foundation’s project as a prototype and distribute or expand it further for wider impact.”
