H.R.H. Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn Visited and Followed-up on Royally-initiated Projects at Border Patrol Police Division 24, Ban Thep Phu Ngoen Border Patrol Police School, Nam Som District, Udon Thani Province
13 June 2023: Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn proceeded to the Ban Thep Phu Ngoen Border Patrol Police School, Nam Som District, Udon Thani Province. She follows up on royally initiated projects which the Border Patrol Police Division 24 carries out the work in response to the royal initiative at the Ban Thep Phu Ngoen Border Patrol Police School. The school has students from kindergarten to grade 6, altogether 44 students in total. She has seen the progress of “Consumable water management project Ban Thep Phu Ngoen Border Patrol Police School Udon Thani Province” under the Information Technology Foundation under the initiative of Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn (PSIT). Professor Dr. Pairash Thajchayapong, executive committee member and Secretary-General of PSIT, Dr. Tinsiri Siribodhi, committee member of PSIT, and Dr. Praderm Wanitchananan, researcher at BIOTEC-NSTDA, Dr. Jamorn Chawengkitwanit, researcher at NANOTEC-NSTDA and Ms. Thunyanut Busabong, senior coordinator, NSTDA, along with executives from partner organizations, including directors and secretary-general of the Utokapat Foundation under the royal patronage, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, Director General of the Forest Department, Deputy Secretary-General of the Office of the Royal Development Projects Board, Director of Groundwater Resources Office No. 10, Udon Thani, Director of Health Center No. 8, Udon Thani, President of Udon Thani Rajabhat University, and researchers at the Hydro-Informatics Institute (Public Organization) welcomed Her Royal Highness.
This project is a joint operation among key agencies to solve the water problem according to Her Royal Highness’s advice in 2018, at the Border Patrol Police School, Ban Thep Phu Ngoen, Udon Thani Province. PSIT is responsible in overall project management and coordinates with partners/network agencies to provide assistance in water management to the Border Patrol Police School, Ban Thep Phu Ngoen and the Ban Thep Phu Ngoen community since 2018 till present. Currently, the water source problems have been solved at the Border Patrol Police School, Ban Thep Phu Ngoen and nearby communities. The set goal has been achieved, that is, there is water for consumption has been inspected and passed the quality standards, and is absent of contaminated herbicides. The Ban Thep Phu Ngoen community can grow medicinal plants. The project has now proceeded into the second phase, titled “Procurement of water resources, water for consumption for the Ban Thep Phu Ngoen Border Patrol Police School, Udon Thani Province, and the Ban Thep Phu Ngoen Community, Udon Thani Province, Phase 2 (2023 – 2027)” in order to achieve sustainability, with the objectives as follows:
1 Inspection, maintenance work and inspection of water quality standards to ensure safety of the consumable water management system, Border Patrol Police School, Ban Thep Phu Ngoen. and the community around the school regularly at appropriate time
2. Help villagers in the Ban Thep Phu Ngoen community to have a natural water source by improving the water intake weir to increase the quantity and quality of water reaching the community for basic consumption and agriculture. Support basic agriculture, planting medicinal plants, and helping with marketing to provide additional income from basic agriculture and supporting the conversion of rubber plantations to rubber forests.
